Welcome back to The Code of Style and this article on 4 reasons why beauty sleep is important.

In the US alone, the cosmetics industry made a whopping revenue of $49 billion in 2019. Not only does this figure proove how vital this industry is to America’s economy, but it also reveals that the majority of US citizens have a deep-rooted desire to look good. However, did you know that sometimes what you need is regular beauty sleep rather than increasing your expenses on countless products? Check out these reasons why your beauty sleep is essential.

Younger looking skin

Did you know that a regular seven to nine-hour sleep helps boost your ability to heal from sun exposure damage by 30%?

During sleep, your blood circulation increases as the skin rebuilds collagen and runs other repair works caused by ultraviolet rays. Also, stress hormones (Cortisol) drastically reduce during your snoozing time, which helps reverse daytime damage. For the majority of people, getting sufficient sleep is impossible without some relaxation techniques.

So opt for soothing music, a cosy bedroom or even special products from Bloom Farms CBD, which all help to boost evening relaxation and induce sleep. Whatever works perfectly for you is what you need to stick to.

Easier weight loss

In case you are trying to shed off a few pounds of weight, your sleep is as important as your exercise routine and diet. Scientifically, the fat cells in your body contain a hormone called Leptin. This hormone suppresses or even subdues hunger pangs, which your brain interprets to mean you are not so hungry.

Inadequate sleep leads to the production of little amounts of Leptin and instead increases Ghrelin– the hormone that increases your appetite and causes you to eat more. This hormone causes unhealthy eating habits you may have developed, which, in effect, is causing your weight gain.

Brighter eyes

Usually, puffy eyes result from fluid build-up around the eyes, which also leads to dark circles. When you sleep less, there is increased retention of blood around the eyes, which leads to vision pressure, dry eyes, and sometimes, droopy eyelids. However, there is a reversal of excess blood from the eye area with adequate sleep, leaving them fresh and bright every morning.

Improved mental health

As mentioned earlier, Cortisol is a stress hormone that increases when you do not get sufficient sleep over a period. This hormone is also responsible for fuelling anxiety, self-doubt, fear, and other negative emotions you may experience at any point in time. Most importantly, because stress directly influences mental health, you may wish to attach importance to yoga and regular dates with your pillow and bed. As a ripple effect, your psychological state also has a considerable bearing on your immune system. So you see, your beauty sleep is not an activity to bargain with.

You may have realized by now that getting enough sleep is beneficial to your physical and mental health. There are many benefits from a sound sleep. If you have ever tried going a full week without sufficient sleep, compare it to a period when you did the exact opposite. The results are visible and sometimes instant. In case you do struggle to sleep, you should consult your doctor for some advice and treatments.
