Are you thinking about embarking on an ambitious exercise program that’ll transform your body? If so, be sure to check out these exercise do’s and don’ts. They could make the difference between incredible success and abject failure.

Do Make Fitness Fun

Where possible, you want fitness to be fun. If you can combine exercise with something that stimulates the mind and allows you to feel present throughout, then you’re onto a winner.

Try to avoid hours on the treadmill, mindlessly grinding away. Hardly anyone enjoys that sort of thing. Instead, make your exercise social or train for a specific event. Or do something like dancing in which you’re both moving and learning a new skill at the same time.

Don’t Overtrain

Overtraining is the enemy of anyone who wants to stick with a fitness regimen long-term. It occurs when you exceed your body’s capacity to recover from exercise, and it makes you feel weak and tired. People suffering from the condition can’t muster the energy to go to the gym. All they want to do is rest.

If you’re experiencing these symptoms already, stop going to the gym. Give your body time to recover. And change your routine so that it is a little less gruelling.

Do Wear Suitable Attire

There’s no point turning up at the gym in a pair of jeans, shirt and tie. You won’t have the right range of motion, and you’ll wind up hot and bothered. Ideally, you want something that wicks sweat from your body and makes you feel confident at the same time. Curves N Combatboots provide some examples of what this might look like. You want clothing that is both comfortable and fashionable.

Don’t Neglect To Rest

Resting is critical when you embark on a new exercise program. You need to give your body time to recover from each session. If you don’t, you’ll wind up with overtraining again.

Ideally, you want at least two days per week on which you don’t exercise intensely. A gentle bike ride or stroll in the park is okay. But you need to give your body a chance to recover before the next onslaught. Even if your muscles feel fine, you still need to give your brain and nerves a chance to get back to baseline.

Do Get Professional Advice

Before you start training, it is a good idea to get some professional advice from people who really know what they’re talking about. It is very easy to injure yourself during exercise. And, often, the effects are permanent. They don’t subside.

Professional instructors can show you the ropes and ensure that you’re using the proper form. The more you practice the correct techniques, the less likely you are to hurt yourself in the future.

Don’t Focus On One Type Of Exercise

If you focus on just one type of exercise, you’ll create muscular imbalances that will eventually affect your overall physique negatively. Try to do many different types of training to create a sense of symmetry across your body, giving you strength in multiple areas.
