Welcome back to The Code of Style, and this feature about What To Pack In Your Flight Bag.

No matter whether you’re a frequent flyer or you’ve never stepped foot on a plane before, knowing what to pack in your flight bag is crucial – the last thing you’ll want to do is forget something important (or even not important, just useful when it comes to your comfort on the flight) and find things are a lot more challenging than they need to be.

That’s why it’s wise to think about what to pack in your flight bag ahead of time, just like you would think about what to pack in your suitcase. They’re just as important as each other, and they both need the same amount of thought. With that in mind, here are some things you’ll need to pack in your flight bag.

What To Pack In Your Flight Bag

What To Pack In Your Flight Bag

1. Travel Documents

Even if your flight bag is completely empty apart from your vital travel documents, as long as you have those (which include your passport, tickets, travel insurance documents, ID, visas, doctor’s letters, and your boarding pass), you’ll be able to get where you’re going without any issues. You might be bored on the flight, of course, but at least you can still travel.

The best place for these documents is in your flight bag, and although it might seem to make more sense to have them in a pocket where you can access them more easily when you need to, it’s better to keep them nice and secure in your bag. And remember, never pack them in your hold luggage as you might find the whole lot gets checked in or you have to unpack everything in front of an annoyed line of people to find your documents!

2. Electronics And Chargers

Something else you’ll definitely need in your flight bag is any electronics you’re taking with you on your trip – your phone, laptop, eReader, tablet, and so on. You might also want to pack some good noise-canceling headphones, as although you’ll usually be given some on the flight (at least you will for long-haul flights), they’re not great quality, and you might prefer to have your own anyway.

Not only is it good to have these things with you at all times for security and for entertainment on the flight, but the truth is that you’re not allowed to pack them in your hold luggage for safety reasons. Anything with a lithium battery (a battery that has to be charged up) can’t go in the hold, and to avoid delays and problems, having them in your flight bag is the best option.

3. Ziploc Bags

There are various rules in place for flights, and although it will depend where you’re going, how long the flight is, and what airline you’re using, something that’s pretty much universal is the rule about liquids – you can only take so much, and you’ll need to keep them in a clear bag.

If you intend to take any toiletries on the flight with you, which is generally a good idea, using clear plastic bags is a good option, but to make things even better is if you could do that and be environmentally friendly, which is definitely something you can do with ZipZii’s range of bags, for example. If you buy a few, you’ll be able to pack everything you need and always stick to the rules.
