Denim on denim is a trend that comes back year on year, and it looks amazing when done well. However, it can be a little tricky to get the “double denim” look right. So, here are my tips for how to wear double denim to ensure that you always look stylish.

Tips to wear double denim
1. Wear the double denim in a way that flatters your body shape
In general, lighter shades draw attention and make an area appear larger, whereas darker shades are slimming. So, make sure to wear the darker denim on the part of your body that you want to minimise and the lighter denim on the area you want to attract attention to. Also, wearing a hat or a statement necklace will draw the eye up and distract attention from your hips if you want to minimise this area.
2. Don’t wear the same shade of denim from head to toe
In general, avoid wearing an identical shade of denim from head to toe, as it will look too “put together”, and you want to go for a more “effortless” look.
The one exception to this “rule” is, of course, a jumpsuit, where you will obviously be wearing the same colour head to toe!
3 Try wearing distressed denim
Distressed denim is a great way to add some effortless “LA Cool” vibes to your look, and add a little contrast between the top and bottom. So, if you’re going for head to toe in the same shade, make sure one of the pieces is distressed, but limit to one distressed piece to maintain the contrast.
4 Opt for very different colours if you’re new to the “double denim” look
As I said above, we want to avoid identical shades of “head to toe” denim, and it can be tricky to coordinate similar shades in one outfit. So, to start with, opt for pairing completely different shades, such as this olive green jacket with black jeans, or a light denim jacket with blue shorts or jeans, until you feel totally at ease with double denim styling.
5 Dress up the look with your accessories
Don’t be afraid to dress up the look and add a little glamour with an elegant bag and/or a pair of heels. You can also take your double denim look from day to night by swapping out your heels, adding a bit of jewellery and changing your make-up.
Mastering the double denim trend can be done, but just make sure to take some time to plan your look, and invest in the right pieces so you don’t end up with two denim pieces items that don’t work together.

DELAFUENTE was founded in 2015 by designer and visionary, Eli Delafuente. Delafuente started his career in the automotive industry and he worked as a BMW technician, until at the age of 26, he decided to make a career change from automobiles to designer. He taught himself everything he could about clothing, such as pattern making, sewing machines, garment construction, how to sew, etc.
Three years, 13 machines and many silk shirts later, he upgraded to a bigger studio where the Delafuente brand currently operates, doing everything in house; from design, to pattern making, prototypes, production, shipping and distribution.
About the brand
Delafuente began the brand with the idea of elevating the iconic T-shirt; updating this closet staple by adding a silk trim to the hem of his first menswear collection under the DELAFUENTE name.
DELAFUENTE has recently launched its inaugural womenswear collection titled “Westlake” which features an edgy and artistic take on traditional denim silhouettes. Their Split Boyfriend Jean showcases the brand’s innovation by playing with the contrasting backside of denim to create paneling and texture throughout the garments.
The brand offers an array of styles that are ever-changing, with raw hems that naturally get worn in over time and jeans with snap-on fringe, the brand is offering must-have looks with their modern touch.
DELAFUENTE, a favorite of Lenny Kravitz and Prince Royce, is a super cool denim designer, with a LA rock n’ roll style, that you need to know about.
