Welcome back to The Code of Style, and this feature about How To Get Thicker Hair.
For some of us, as we age, our hair will get thinner, but for others, there is genetics in play. But there are a couple of ways to boost your hair and see some results (even those that are fleeting) with some lifestyle changes, the right shampoo, and, for those who want permanent results, a hair transplant.
So let’s look at a couple of ways you can get thicker hair.
How To Get Thicker Hair
Pay attention to your hair cut
The haircut you have can make your hair look thinner and lanker – or it can make it look thick and full of life. For men who aren’t ready to go bald, having a short haircut can make it look like the hair covers more of the head. It makes bald patches and areas thinner and less noticeable.
For ladies and those who have and love long hair, you can compromise and opt for a bob, go for a look that has waves in it, or a lob.
Use specialist shampoos
Hair thickening shampoos work by adding things like panthenol to each strand of hair to help plump it out. It offers temporary strength to the hair and will make it look more voluminous. It does depend on the type of hair that you have, though.
There are several shampoos that multiple media outlets have tested, and they get great reviews. Often shampoos designed to thicken hair can be a little bit more expensive – but once you find the right one, you’ll be set.
Check out:
- Monpure – Strengthening silk protein shampoo
- Virtue – Flouris shampoo for thinning hair
- Aveda – Botanical repair by Aveda strengthening shampoo
- Dr. Barbara Sturm – Anti hair-fall shampoo
- LOreal Professional – Seriè expert pro longer shampoo
Each offers different ingredients and other benefits. Washing your hair often can dry it out; if you can reduce how often you wash, then try to do that.
Invest in Supplements and Special Treatments
If you have a varied and healthy diet, then supplements could be an excellent addition to your diet. Look for supplements with vitamin A, biotin, vitamin C, keratin, zinc, and vitamin D.
There are some brands of supplements that are designed specifically for hair and skin, but make sure to check that they have all of the vitamins that will lead to great hair.
Hair growth gummies have been tested for years, and many people swear by them. Here are a couple to check out (although the ingredient list can be used to find a cheaper alternative) and some other treatment types that can help.
- Keranique hair growth treatments 2% minoxidil
- Virtua flourish minoxidil foam 5%
- Viviscal advanced hair health supplement
- Ouai thin hair supplements
- Briogeo B. well vegan omegas + biotin supplements
Use the right hair brush
The right brush can mean that you can stimulate the growth of your hair. A quality brush will help to increase sebum production and help to smooth the natural hair oils from the scalp to the tips of your hair. Get a great brush and do a deep brush once a week to stimulate the scalp.
