Welcome back to The Code of Style and this article about How to make taking care of your hair less of a hassle.
There are few people who are in doubt of this. However, things tend to fall by the wayside for a lot of us because, let’s be real, it takes a lot of work to keep our hair looking good. However, it doesn’t need to be quite the herculean effort that it can be. Here are a few ways you can make it a little easier to keep your hair game on point.
Tips to Make Taking Care Of Your Hair Less Of A Hassle
Choose a low maintenance style
Simply put, if you choose a hairstyle that is more complex and less natural, then you’re going to be giving yourself extra work to keep up with it. Instead, you should do a little research and take a closer look at some of the low maintenance looks that don’t require as much styling or care from you on a daily basis. Many of these hairstyles tend to be fairly short, but a great idea for longer hair is a messy updo. To accomplish this look:
- Brush out your hair to remove the tangles.
- At the nape of your neck, gather your hair into a loose ponytail and hold it in place with a hair tie.
- Twist the ponytail up to the crown of your head and secure the twist with long hair pins.
- Leave several (however many you like to see) of the ends of the twist loose and arrange them as you like.Pull some of the whippy ends loosely around your jaw to soften your jaw line.
Remove split ends simply
Remove trichomoniasis, or split ends, like this: take small sections of your hair and carefully twist them in a gentle downward motion. The split ends will stick out. Using sharp scissors, carefully cut into the twisted section, but not right through, to remove the damaged cuticles and leave a natural layered look. Cut roughly the same amount from each twist to balance the effect and this will ensure that you’re taking care of your hair regularly.
Wash and dry with care
If you have dry hair, you may not need to use shampoo as often. In fact, it’s recommended in most cases that you rely on dry shampoo more often than the washing since actually wetting your hair can be worse for it in the long run. Conditioner is another hot topic when it comes to hair health. For one, you don’t want to use too much, as it can create a greasy film that attracts dirt, forcing you to wash it more often. There are also those who recommend using conditioner before shampoo so that film can’t develop, too.
Dry your hair after washing in the ambient temperature of your room after using an absorbent towel to soak up the excess moisture, but don’t rub too hard. If possible, don’t use flat irons, curling irons or hot rollers each time as overuse of artificial heating can leave your hair brittle and damaged in time. Be natural whenever you can, which is also a lot less hassle!
Partner up with your local salon
Simply put, why should you do it all yourself when you could partner up with someone who might be able to do it better? You don’t need to stop by for a new do every three weeks, but you can enjoy some offerings like a blowout service membership that sees you, for a subscription fee, getting a little styling assistance on a more regular basis. It can help you keep your hair looking professionally styled but without needing the full treatment as often.
Take care of your hair from the inside
For shiny, healthy hair think of your body’s intake. Your hair is really just a reflection of what you are inside. A good balanced, nutritious, and healthy diet will make your healthy and glossy. And drink eight to ten glasses of water a day too; hair is 25% water, so don’t let yours go thirsty!
If your hair is looking dull, feeling dry and brittle, or showing split ends, and you spend your time in the day trying to combat these issues, then you should make sure that you’re investing in nutrition for your hair. It might mean a little extra work, initially, but over time your investment is going to pay off as you don’t have to give it quite as much routine care to take care of these regular woes.
No matter what style or type of hair you have, it will need a little care here and there. However, hopefully, the tips above can keep it within manageable ranges, not full-time job levels.
