Top Tips On How To Set The Perfect Christmas Dinner Table

Before deciding on Christmas table colours or themes, it makes sense to think about what you’ve already got and how you could incorporate it, and also make sure to choose a theme that fits in with the rest of your Christmas decorations.

Choose a tablecloth

The first thing you’ll need is a tablecloth. First, pick a color or design that suits your Christmas theme. For example, if you’re going with a traditional red and green Christmas theme, then choose a red or green tablecloth. Alternatively, if you’re going for a more modern look, choose a white tablecloth and add colorful holiday decorations like ornaments, tinsel, and candles.

And, remember to buy a table cloth big enough to cover your table when it’s fully extended!

Select the dinnerware

Once you have your tablecloth selected, it’s time to choose your dinnerware. First, choose solid colors for your dinner plates, cups, and saucers for a more traditional look. Next, try choosing colored dishes that coordinate with or accentuate the colors of your tablecloth.

You can also buy holiday-themed dishes to complete your Christmas dinner party theme.

Flatware

Next, move on to flatware. This is one area where you have a lot of options. If you’re hosting, then it’s best to stick with the traditional gold or silver color scheme. However, if you’re attending someone else’s house for dinner during the holidays, don’t be afraid to borrow any extra utensils they may have available in other colors to add some visual interest to your place setting. Another fun idea is to wrap each utensil in a different color of wrapping paper.

Table Accessories

Now it’s time for the fun part: accessories! Candles are always a must-have on any Christmas table, and they come in all shapes and sizes. You can go with traditional taper candles, or if you’re looking for something a little more festive, try using Christmas-themed candles like candy canes or snowflakes.

Pick a great centrepiece that will act as the focal point and provide a stunning impact, but choose one that you can easily remove and place to one side when you are serving.

Another great option for adding some holiday cheer to your table is to use wine aeration glasses for that special Christmas toast. Also, you can add seasonal fruit like oranges and lemons. They’ll add a touch of color and freshness to your table setting, and they can also be used as decorations by placing them in bowls or vases.

Napkins

And finally, don’t forget the napkins! There are so many fun and festive options out there, so have fun with it! Try pairing a solid-colored napkin with a solid-colored dinner plate for a classic look. If you’d prefer to go with a patterned tablecloth, you can always pick an accent color from your tablecloth or dinnerware and use that as the base color for your napkin.

Some great holiday-themed napkin sets are Santa Claus prints, metallic reindeer prints, and snowflake patterns. If you’re crafty, then try creating some Christmas-themed napkins on your own by cutting silver or metallic gold, wrapping paper into squares, and folding them into fun shapes like stars, trees, decorations, and bells.

Use your imagination and add a little personal touch

You might want to add place setting cards, and you can choose styles that fit in with your theme or make them yourself, and/or you might want to add something unexpected, such as a small present at each place, and of course, crackers are always guaranteed to set the festive mood!
