Just like back pain, most of us deal with some level of stress at some point. If you find that you’re experiencing back pain more often and it’s due to stress, however, then it’s a sign of a problem worth addressing. There are ways to treat chronic stress, including medically and with lifestyle adjustments such as meditation and exercise, and the fact that it affects you physically is a good sign you need to take it seriously.

Pain that lasts longer than a week

If you haven’t been able to get any relief from your back pain for over a week, or it keeps coming back after short periods of relief, then it gets to the point that waiting for any longer can result in extra damage and you should consider trusted back specialists to help diagnose and fix the problem. Chronic back pain can become a life-long problem if you don’t act in time.

If you have been experiencing frequent back pain and you are overweight or obese, then the unfortunate reality is that the two are very likely to be related.

Look for light exercises that won’t stress your back and start making dietary changes to cut down on sugar, unsaturated fats, and processed foods as best as possible. Losing that weight doesn’t guarantee your back will feel better, but it will put less pressure on it, making it less susceptible to future aches.

Pain in your back and other parts of the body at the same time

Leg pain

Your back is susceptible to aches on its own, but there are also causes of pain that can hit your back and other parts of your body at the same time. This can include a nerve root irritation that can hit both the leg and back at the same time and lead to weakness, numbness, and increasing pain over time.

Physical therapy for back pain

If not treated at the right time with massages, physical therapy, and heat treatments, you may require surgery.

Back pain with a fever

It might seem like the two symptoms are unrelated, but the truth is that experiencing back pain at the same time as a fever should get you on the phone to your doctor ASAP. A lot of infections cause these issues, and there could be complications if you don’t act.
