Translated from German as ‘the feeling of home’, HEIMAT is defined as a state of belonging and carries this very philosophy as Los Angeles’ most holistic respite.
Across 75,000 sq ft of real estate sit three floors of fitness and wellness offerings, a world-class restaurant, a rooftop with pool, jacuzzi, cabanas and an outdoor bar boasting panoramic views of the Hollywood Hills. For gourmands, HEIMAT has partnered with Michelin-starred Chef Michael Mina to debut the globally inspired Mother Tongue. Open to the public, Mother Tongue is the essential spot to have a night out for dinner with friends, a happy hour cocktail, a business lunch or breakfast with colleagues. A juice bar, spa, coworking and event space enhance the experience while valet parking allows for a seamless arrival and departure experience for guests. These amenities, combined with a robust calendar of cultural and fitness programming, underscore that at HEIMAT, members can truly have it all.
BUILDING & DESIGN OF HEIMAT FITNESS AND WELLNESS CLUB
With the interior design by Germany-based design studio INCO (floors one through three) and renowned Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (floors four and five), HEIMAT transformed a 1930s industrial building in Hollywood’s Media District into an immaculate structure through thoughtfully sourced marble, woods, and custom forged metals amongst other premium materials. Raw concrete elements and original graffiti from street pop artist, Mr. Brainwash and alike, infuse a clever balance of high design with industrial edge. Original murals on view were commissioned by emerging artists Albert Macias, Jessalyn Brooks and Sophia Dherbecourt to invoke LA’s vibrant cultural topography.
Upon arrival, members step into the Living Room, a space reminiscent of being welcomed into someone’s home which serves multiple uses – as a check-in station, indulging in the juice bar, or simply relaxing in a most comfortable environment.
Following check-in, a discreet entryway leads members to the club which includes a 7,000 sq ft free weight training space. Further down the hall, members can experience stunning, purpose-built fitness studios, be it Bootcamp, Cycling, or main Group Fitness. Each space is deftly woven through light installations and patterned wooden floors for a space reminiscent of the demands for each modality. Colorful RGB lights dart across the ceiling and trail down the walls in the Cycling Studio, which can be repurposed into a private screening room while the Cardio Area melds sunlight and a live cacti garden amidst floor-to-ceiling windows to underscore the comprehensive equipment offerings available.
The second floor offers a boutique spa complete with vanity areas for the ultimate post-exercise serenity. The locker rooms feature stunning marbled floors and countertops accented by hand-crafted wood paneling, custom brass fixtures, and greenery potted throughout.
A uni-sex relaxation room complete with Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona Day Beds, surrounded by the silhouettes of tropical vegetation, transform the connected space between the men’s and women’s quarters into a tranquil escape.
On the third floor, a Pilates Studio features Elina reformers specially designed for HEIMAT. Sitting adjacent, members will find a stretching area, custom strength machines furnished by gym80, a Kinesis Studio furnished by Technogym with state-of-the-art Kinesis One equipment as well as a balance and flow studio for heated and non-heated Yoga, Barre and mat Pilates. Apart from the aforementioned classes, meditation, breathwork, myofascial release training, and sound baths with props by Manduka and Perform Better are also offered.
On the fourth floor sits Mother Tongue, HEIMAT’s signature restaurant helmed by Michelin-starred Chef Michael Mina. Designed by Martin Brudnizki, the indoor-outdoor concept follows an eclectic minimalism design approach with bold coastal inspired pastels to seat up to 150 guests with design motifs intended to dazzle and delight. Adjacent to the terrace sits the pool and jacuzzi accented by daybeds and cabanas where members can lounge and relax.
The Clubhouse, perched on the fifth and final floor, serves as an all-day coworking space, supplemented with an adjacent Library room for meetings and other intimate events. A private dining room completes the collection of spaces on offer. Vintage furniture once again adds a playful touch to each common area, accented by brightly hued ceilings, colorful textured wallpaper, and wainscot wood paneling.
FITNESS
With fitness anchoring the entire experience within HEIMAT, it’s no surprise that on offer is Los Angeles’ most comprehensive array of group fitness classes under one roof. Taught by best-in-class instructors certified the specific discipline they are leading, all memberships will include Cycle, Run, Bootcamp, Barre, Boxing, Dance Cardio, TRX, Yoga (mat & hot) and, uniquely, Reformer Pilates. Additionally, classes built on the emerging methodology of Kinesis will be available that will help members focusing on pre-hab and rehab training.
For those seeking a more individualized fitness journey, resident trainers will be available to create workout plans catered to all needs. Furthermore, HEIMAT has taken their personal training program a step further by also partnering with specialty trainers who have extensive knowledge in very specific fitness spheres.
Rounding out the fitness offerings, HEIMAT has been equipped with custom weight and circuit training machines from gym80, whose products are world renowned for being aesthetically beautiful while bio-mechanically researched and ergonomically constructed. For cardio, TechnoGym has provided state-of-art treadmills, ellipticals, rowers and more that can be linked to each member to create individual workouts and track progress.
Members can download the HEIMAT App to book classes, personal training sessions, spa services, pool daybeds, and dining reservations.
ADDITIONAL AMENITIES THAT WEAVE WORK, WELLNESS AND PLAY
The spa offers exclusive treatments from Royal Fern and The Feelist, European foot spas and saunas. Rotating services are aplenty with facials, IV therapies, massage therapy, lymphatic drainage, assisted stretching and more. For an additional fee, members can top off their workout with manicure and pedicure services from Dazzle Dry. Towel service and a powder area are also available for use on the same floor.

Mother Tongue, the new concept by award-winning Chef Michael Mina, celebrates global fare with vibrant and clean ingredients that nourish the body and mind. Utilizing meticulous sourcing and innovative culinary technique, the menu is soulful and flavorful prioritizing organic and whole foods as well as sustainability. Designed by Martin Brudnizki Studio, Mother Tongue is the place for a night out for dinner with friends, a happy hour cocktail, a business lunch or breakfast with colleagues.
MEMBERSHIP
Limited to ages 21 and older, HEIMAT offers a year-long membership which can be found here. Day passes are subject to availability and members receive two complimentary guest passes per year. Valet parking and membership options are available for an added fee.
